Quiz competition on Indian independence

‘Kranti’, a quiz competition on Indian independence was conducted on 14^th of August 2013 at Manthan by The Elixir Club.Sumanth.P and Karan Modi from III semester BHM were the winners.

'The Degorgeur' was vibrant

‘The Elixir Club’ of Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration, Mangalore organised an intercollegiate mocktail and cocktail making competition titled ‘The Degorgeur’ for the third consecutive year. Students from Sahyadiri P.U College, Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management and Srinivas College of Hotel Management participated for the event conducted on 24^th of August 2013.There were three categories namely PU-Mocktail making, UG-Mocktail making and UG-Cocktail making. The innovative drinks of the participants were judged on the basis of overall presentation, taste and creativity. The competition was closely followed by a valedictory function in which the prizes and certificates were given away.

Azaadi 2 –Display of 7 Indian state flags

Azaadi 2 was conducted by ‘The Elixir’ Club on 20th of August 2013 as a part of Independence Day celebrations. The elixirites exhibited the flags of 7 Indian states in the form of layered drinks. The state flags of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh were displayed.

‘I love beer’ competition held

Ten questions related to beer and its making was asked to the participants during ‘I love beer’ competition organized by The Elixir Club on 6^th of August 2013.22 participants attempted all the questions but finally it was Cherian P.J, Cletus D’souza and Nelson Fernandes of VII semester BHM who were declared as winners.

International Beer Day

To commemorate International Beer Day, The Elixir Club set a counter displaying various beer bottle brands on 5^th of August 2013.There was also an information board put up which featured the major ingredients used in beer making and 5 famous international brand names of beer.

‘Know your Scotch’ conducted

On account of U.S National Scotch Day, The Elixir Club conducted a quiz competition titled ‘Know your Scotch’ on 2^nd of August 2013 at 1.30 P.M.Ten questions related to scotch whisky were asked to the participants.Pranav.V of final year was the event co-ordinator.

Crucigrama was organized

Mr.Tharun Shetty, an active elixirite of VII semester organized Crucigrama (Cross words competition related to F&B Service) on 1^st of August 2013.21 students participated for the event and Savio Tellis of VII semester was declared as the winner.

U.S National Scotch Day

July 27^th, Saturday was U.S National Scotch Day. To commemorate this, the elixir club set a counter displaying various Scotch whisky bottles.

U.S National Tequila Day

U.S National Tequila Day was observed by the elixirites on 24^th of July 2013.

Grand Marnier Day observed

To commemorate U.S National Grand Marnier Day, Team Elixir set a counter near the Training restaurant of SIHA on 15^th of July 2013 displaying the salient features of the great French liqueur.

Barista 2013 conducted

'Barista', a food & beverage service quiz competition was conducted successfully at Manthan on 15^th of July 2013.7 teams participated in the preliminary round and only 4 teams were selected for the finals. The team of Tharun Shetty and Joyal Fernandez (Blue House) secured the first place. Barista was organized for the fourth time in SIHA by the Elixir Club and the quiz master was Mr.Varghese Johnson, the club director.

Spot the logo competition

The competition was conducted on 13^th of July 2013 in Room no.308 at 1210 hours.20 logos were given to the participants for identification.15 students participated for the same.Jerald D’souza of I semester was declared as the winner.

Pina Colada Day observed

On 10^th of July 2013, The Elixir Club set a counter near the Training restaurant of SIHA to commemorate the classic cocktail Pina Colada.

Bollywood Quiz Competition

A quiz on bollywood was organized by The Elixir Club on 29^th of June 2013 at 1200 hours in Manthan.There were 4 teams that challenged each other to win the cash prize. The team of Prasad Rao and Joel of V semester secured the first place whereas Natesh Sharma and Kiran Desai of the same class secured the second place.Richin Johny of V semester was the event co-ordinator.

On account of the ‘World Environment Day’, The Elixir Club organised a photography competition with the theme ‘Do not litter’ on 28^th of June 2013.

Jughead-The Reader’s Haven inaugurated

A book lending library was inaugurated on June 25^th, 2013 by Mr. Amar Cherian, Vice-Principal at 2.50 P.M.This library is an initiative from The Elixir Club to inculcate reading habits among SIHAites and is located close to The Crunch Time outlet. The library will be functioning on all working days from 1.20 P.M-1.45 P.M.Ms.Rainha Barreto of VII semester is the Chief Librarian and is assisted by Aswin Rebello of V semester and Jarad D’souza of I semester.

The Crunch Time-An outlet that sells snacks

The Elixir Club has opened an outlet in the Elixir Club Room for selling snacks.Stephin Stephen of V semester and Arun John of III semester is in charge for running the outlet.

‘Illuminar’ conducted

The Oath Taking ceremony of the newly elected board members of ‘The Elixir’ Club for the academic session, June 2013-November 2013 was organized on 22^nd of June 2013 in Manthan at 12.10 P.M. The oath taking session was led by Asst.Professor, Mr.Amar Z.Cherian.

A video presentation on the assignment given by Mr. Rajeev Samant, CEO of Sula vineyards, Nasik to an advertising team leader was shown at Manthan on 18^th and 19^th of June 2013 at 1.25 P.M. 

Learn & Win competition

On 22nd of June 2013, The Elixir club conducted Learn & Win competition at the Elixir Club room. The participants studied the names of 15 vitis vinifera white grape varieties and jotted down the names on a paper. Gavin D’mello of I semester was announced as the winner.

Predict & Win competition

The SIHAites were given a chance to predict the winners of IPL 6 as part of Predict & Win competition. Six students predicted that Mumbai Indians will take the championship trophy of IPL 6.Through a lucky draw, the winner was declared as Joshua Fernandes during the first college assembly.

To maintain healthy and steady relationships with the pass out elixirites, ‘The Elixir Alumni Association’ was formed on 1st of June 2013.The board members of the club will update the alumni members about the latest events conducted by The Elixir.
