Guzaarish, Poetry in voice

Guzaarish, Hindi poem recital competition was organised by The Elixir club on 15th of January 2012 at Manthan at 4 P.M.The event was inaugurated by Mr. Terence Rodrigues by singing a poem written by Kabir Das.5 participants participated in the competition with fervor and enthusiasm. The judges, Mr.Terence Rodrigues and Ms.Sonia Thomas evaluated each contestant on the basis of presentation, pronunciation and interpretation. By organizing such competitions the club strives to boost up the confidence level of students and improve their public speaking abilities.

Le Jardin-SIHA’s roof top restaurant opened

The Elixir Club’s roof top restaurant, Le Jardin which means ‘The Garden’ in French, was inaugurated on 5th of January 2013 at 1030 hours by Ms.Indira.K, Principal of Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration. The restaurant staff along with the students and faculties was present during this great occasion. The restaurant features 16 covers and emphasizes mainly on the service of fast food items and non-alcoholic beverages. The job offer letter of all the restaurant staff was distributed by Ms.Indira.K and she motivated the staff to come up with better performance. A games counter named ‘Snake and Ladders’ can also be seen in Le Jardin.

Le Jardin-interview

A panel interview for The Elixir’s roof top restaurant, Le Jardin was conducted on 2nd of January 2013 at 10 a.m in the Conference Room.13 candidates appeared for the job interview for various posts such as F&B Manager, Restaurant Manager, Captain, Cashier and Waiter.The panel of interviewers included Ms.Indira .K, Mr.Amar Cherian, Ms.Basavarajeshwari and Mr.Savio Dsouza.The factors that were considered for the interview were grooming, knowledge, general awareness, involvement in the elixir club activities etc. Though few candidates were nervous initially during the interview, they gradually gained confidence as time progressed.

Carte de Nöel, Christmas card making competition went thriving on 15th of December 2012. The winning design was chosen by Ms.Sonia Thomas and Ms.Basawarajeshwari.The event was organized by ‘The Elixir’ Club of our college.

Navidad was a treat to eyes

The X’mas tree making competition of ‘The Elixir’ club titled ‘Navidad’ was organized successfully on 15th of December 2012 at the ‘Time Out’ cafeteria of SIHA. Two teams participated in this joyous celebration held primarily to commemorate Christmas. Participants were encouraged to use different decorative materials, stars and lights. The event was judged by Ms.Sonia Thomas and Ms. Basawarajeshwari, faculties of Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration, Mangalore.

Santa is making cocktail 2

The Elixir’s cocktail making event, ‘Santa is making cocktail’ was conducted on 15th of December 2012 at the ‘Time Out’ cafeteria of SIHA at 09.30 AM. 4 elixirites disguised themeselves as Santaclaus prepared their cocktails and waited for the final judgement.Mr.Savio Dsouza and Ms.Minu Mary Thomas judged the cocktails on the basis of creatitivity, presentation and taste.The Red Santa, Creamy Christmas, The Red Nectar and The Blue Emerald were the names given to the cocktails prepared by them.This event enhanced the creativity of the participants and motivated them to participate for such events in the future.

It’s Cocktail 3

A unique way of sharing the history of few cocktails is what ‘It’s Cocktail’ is all about. This is the third consecutive year that The Elixir club is conducting this event. It’s Cocktail 3 was organized successfully on 8th of December 2012 with 8 counters and 16 participants in total. U-boot, Blue Blazer, Brave Bull, Black Velvet, Long Island Tea, True Love, Caipirinha and French 75 were the cocktails picked up by the participants. The counter of each team was arranged according to the theme of the cocktail and the elixirites spoke about its history. The participants were enthralled by the audience support and answered the queries of the guests who visited their counters.Mr.Terence Rodrigues and Mr.Savio Dsouza, faculties of our college judged It’s Cocktail-3.

Ganadores 3

The Elixir’s intercollegiate F&B Service quiz competition, Ganadores 3 was organized on 8th of December 2012.Nine teams from different hotel management colleges in and around Mangalore participated for this event. The prelimilinary round began at 9.30 A.M and on the basis of a written test, teams were short listed. Three teams from Motimahal College of Hotel Management and one team from Srinivas College of Hotel Management made it to the finals. The 5 rounds namely, The Basics, Wines of the world, Spirits of the world, Cocktails of the world and Visual round kept the audience and teams at the edge of their seats. But finally, it was the team from Motimahal College of Hotel Management who won the title; Ganadores 3.Participants from Srinivas College of Hotel Management bagged the second prize. At the end of the competition, trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners by our Principal, Ms.Indira K.S. Mr.Ashith Victor Pinto of VI semester was the quiz master.

F&B Service Term of the day

To make the students accustomed to various F&B Service terms, The Elixir Club has come up with ‘F&B Service Term of the day’. It will be displayed on the cafeteria notice board and will be updated every day.The activity was initiated on 03-12-2012.

The Elixir’s online F&B Service database

The Elixir’s online F&B Service database, ‘F&B Questions & Answers’ was launched on 3rd of December 2012 by our Principal, Ms.Indira K.S at 10.15 a.m in Manthan.The blog features varied questions and answers related to F&B Service topics. The elixirites of various semesters have contributed almost 185 questions and answers which will definitely help the students who wish to build their career in the F&B industry. Flyer on the harmful effects of Plastic bags

The Elixir Club in association with The Eco Club distributed flyers titled ‘Say No to Plastic’ on 3rd of December 2012.The flyer illustrates the menaces of plastic bags and also features methods of preventing it.

The Elixir Club's contribution to the college

On 30th of November 2012, The Elixir Club of our college has contributed one aquarium to the college with the amount the club had generated through various activities.
